About Our Client

The focus for the Area Manager Rest of Africawill be on the Northern, Western and Southern African regions. Our client is aiming to achieve R1bn's growth within its Personal and Business Banking sector within the African region in the next three years, Thus the brand new position that has been created within their Sandton offices in Gauteng, South Africa.

Job Description

  • To ensure that business growth, risk and costs are managed effectively in order to achieve operating income targets.
  • Packages, structures and negotiates across a broad range of financial products and services (in collaboration with product specialists) to provide suitable financial solutions.
  • To add value to clients while providing a profitable returns to the bank with minimal risk exposure.
  • Pricing offerings appropriately and providing advice on the appropriate tax implications of various complex structures.
  • Preparing and motivating credit applications for lending requirements.
  • To support the PBB Head, Rest of Africa, Provincial Business Heads in optimising the Rest of Africa solutions and achieving the notional (sales) budget.
  • Executing on the sales plan to attract new business and expand existing business.
  • Measure and manage sales targets and budgets for various product areas (such as Lending, Forex, Trade, Business online, Cash solutions etc.)
  • Responsible for identifying Rest of Africa business opportunities in the market as well as for devising plans on how best to convert these opportunities into actual revenue.
  • Acts as an advisor to clients on Forward Exchange Cover, Letters of Credit, Guarantees, CFC accounts and Foreign Exchange facilities.
  • Identifies performance gaps and variances in sales results, and institutes remedial action plans.
  • Ensures concession processes are adhered to.
  • Arbitrates and / or motivates credit decisions where required.
  • Presents Credit proposals to Pre Credit Forum / Entrepreneur Forum for approval.
  • Influences, guides and supports the relevant Provincial Stakeholders (for the relevant province) in the achievement and Acquisition of new business to the bank.
  • Drive economic profit and balance sheet growth by ensuring product penetration within portfolios, product utilisation and profitability and meeting customer needs.
  • Forges business partnerships with PBB Africa, Business, Commercial and CIB market stakeholders
  • Provides input into the budget and sales targets (in consultation with Product).
  • Monitors activities and costs related to utilisation of resources required to support Provincial teams.
  • Guides Customer Channels through the process of developing an in-country (Africa) strategy that would finally be formulated into a regional strategy.
  • Works with key stakeholder's in-country (Africa) to set the strategic direction for the trade sector and link the strategy to income and sales plans.
  • Works with the product management team to deliver an overall trade product positioning
  • Works with the country business banking heads and trade finance heads to ensure the trade segment proposition is customised to suit local environmental needs in each country.
  • Works with all other segment owners to ensure an integrated approach to maximizing overall value of all bank products for Commercial and Business Banking, across Africa.
