Job Description

  • Implementation of the Commercial Blue Print
  • Design an action plan to accomplish the current/new business strategy
  • Conduct needs assessments with key current and potential clients
  • Ensure entity meets established sales and revenue goals through resolute activity management
  • Analyse information feedback delivered by the sales force to identify market trends
  • Provide recommendations to Marketing.
  • Identify initiatives to improve the range and quality of products and services provided
  • Management of sales forces in a collaborative environment
  • Lead, direct, optimize and coach the acquisition, development and retention of clients
  • Identify relevant business targets for the sales force and set individual and/or collective goals
  • Monitor meetings results with current and prospective clients about their needs and aspirations
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Source new high premium clients
  • Ensure full utilization of the customer management system
  • Ensure that all sales related documentation is complete, accurate, verified, and complies with the company regulations.
  • Pilot negotiations for major commercial accounts.
  • Mobilize resources, either from Commercial or from Risk department
  • Ensure that all financial targets are met by continuously monitoring individual and collective business results.
  • Ensure staff performance improvement by driving key activity and productivity metrics.
  • Guarantee effective budgeting and cost control.
  • Produce accurate and regular reports to the Senior Management team as required.
  • Organize links with other entities of the company and ensure responsiveness to changes in products and services
  • Represent the company in the local business community to enhance the organisation's brand awareness
  • Take joint ownership of the loss ratio on the portfolio with the Risk department and deliver a profitable result to the business
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and procedures as laid down by the client and external regulators

The Successful Applicant

  • Appropriate degree or diploma (Finance or Business related)
  • Credit Insurance industry experience is ideal, however, not essential
  • Track record of growing a corporate and/or commercial financial services business
  • Solid record of established business relationships with large intermediaries, brokers, and other corporate/commercial customers
  • Experience in, and ability to operate in, an international environment
  • Deep experience in launching, implementing and managing a multichannel business strategy
  • Knowledge of the local corporate market as well as business development capabilities at domestic level
  • Demonstrated ability to work across borders with a good strategic and commercial vision of the major African markets (beneficial)
  • Good understanding of financial statements including analysis and interpretation
  • Computer literacy
  • Stature and gravitas to operate and interact at a top management level
  • Strong organisational skills coupled with cooperative style of leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to build networks and leverage them in order to develop business
  • Ability to think strategically, and plan for the long-term, while balancing short-term and long-term needs of the organisation
  • Ability to analyse and effectively lead decision-making processes
  • Influencer with track record in team building and people management
  • A dedicated and hard-working individual with high energy
  • A self-starter, who expects the best from self and others
