About Our Client

Our client is a listed entity on multiple stock markets providing quality pharmaceutical products and related health care to various private and public entities across the globe, based in Cape Town. Their current plant employs 400 - 600 staff and on a global level a staff contingency of nearly 100 000 employees.

Job Description

The following is a clear and concise job description for the responsibilities of the successful individual :

  • Prepares costing from PES / PMS/ PLS.
  • Accurately extracts costing information from BPCS and Product costing forms.
  • Correctly calculates costings.
  • Participates in cost reduction projects.
  • Downloads information regarding material variances from the AS400.
  • Analyses material variance of each shop order and attributes the variance.
  • Calculates and processes the required journal entries.
  • Obtains material prices from procurement and capture into BPCS budget environment.
  • Validates routers in the bill of material.
  • Performs material cost validation after roll up
  • Inputs new material cost from opening sheets PLS / PMS
  • Runs shop order close report from BPCS.
  • Assesses variances on BPCS close shop order menu
  • Follows up with production in respect of significant variance
  • Extracts relevant information and inputs into CSF template
  • Ensures figures represented balance to the general ledge
  • Extracts labour statistics from manufacturing system and inserts into labour analysis model
  • Journalizes variances arising from the labour analysis model
  • Reconciles direct labour cost and variances to agree with general ledger balance
  • Downloads data from BPCS systems
  • Allocates data to the production variance account
  • Reconciles JDE system to the supplementary ledgers on a monthly basis
  • Obtains authorisation to journalize reconciliation differences
  • Prepares quarterly review authorisations with the Factory Accounts Manage
  • Consults with OE Experts and Advocates on benefit capture a financial data gathering
  • Monitors financial aspects of all projects in Value Stream
  • Monitors project benefits and communicates to Factory Accounts Manager
  • Prepares monthly Value Stream OE financial reports
  • Extracts variances from general ledger
  • Investigates and prepares commentary for major variance and makes recommendations
  • Liaises with various cost centres to accumulate data for budget forecast setting
  • Forwards figures to Management Accountant
  • Participates in the annual standard setting process
  • Complies with QMS, GMP and EHS standards
  • Complies with OE standards, completes regular JDI and ensures work station is 6S compliant
  • Completes related ad-hoc projects when required
  • Extracts historical data for justification of capital purchases.
  • Calculates and processes monthly accrual for labour and overhead recovery in WIP.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and personality traits :

  • Grade 12 / equivalent NQF Level 4
  • Diploma in Cost Accounting / equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years junior cost clerk position.
  • Computer literate in PC and AS400.
  • Intimate knowledge of Excel spread sheet
  • Self motivated.
  • Initiative.
  • Accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadline.
  • Ability to work overtime when required
