Job Description

The successful incumbent will deliver on this mandate by:

-Applying governance in order to keep clients safe and compliant;

-Providing oversight of accounting processes, systems and controls for the enabling functions segments in OMEM where (and as) appropriate;

-Highlighting risks and issues apparent from the numbers reported for the client;

-Ensure the clients' numbers are an accurate reflection of their performance to date;

-Providing the interpretation and insight into numbers that will facilitate the development, implementation and execution of the business plan;

-Supporting the business through identifying opportunities for efficiencies by optimising budget;

-Provision of predictive results and assistance with forecasting.

Key Result Areas

-Provides Finance support to key stakeholders within the enabling functions businesses in OMEM.

-Analyses and monitors the effect of budget or policy changes on the business areas/clients.

-Assists in deciding on the financial and business viability of new and existing projects and programmes.

-Works closely with clients to translate strategy into business plan over periods of 1 to 3 years.

-Contributes to the development of the financial strategy and supports the client in the implementation thereof.

-Demonstrates ownership through the implementation of the funding model across enabling services.

- Plans and prepares budgets in alignment with organisational goals and principles.

-Where appropriate, ensures tax, legislative and statutory requirements are considered by the client and that the correct specialised services are engaged.

-Champions the financial soundness of our clients.

-Interacts with business unit line managers on financial outcomes, expense trends, etc.

-Undertakes initiatives that will improve operating efficiency and/or decrease wasteful expenditure.

-Forecasts and projects future cash flow for the business.

The Successful Applicant

Personal attributes:

-Strong focus on process improvement and client satisfaction

-Business acumen: Financial services experience and knowledge of Old Mutual structures and systems

-Strong ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders is essential

-Ability to adapt to changing demands/requirements

-Strong Excel skills

-Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with other team members, senior support personnel, high level personnel and client

Key selection criteria:

- CA(SA)qualification

- 2 years post articles experience within financial services


- BCom degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years accounting experience

- Budgeting experience is essential
