About Our Client
Our client is a multinational industrial business with operations divided into 3 main clusters which provide services to the mining, oil & gas and construction sectors.
Global revenue is in excess of USD 2.8 Bil with 10,000 staff.
The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for leading the local HR team. This includes ensuring that global policies and procedures are implemented and aligned to local business practices. The incumbent will also be expected to contribute to the entire HR value chain, from operational to strategic functions.
The role covers the African business with an approximate staff compliment of 1,000 and will report into the VP of Human Resources based at the European Head Office. Duties of the role include:
Negotiate and/or consult with blue collar employees relating to conditions of employment, in line with work legislative guidelines
- Develop and ensure that HR Policies & Procedures reflect complete alignment with the management's perspective as well as Global HR, regulatory requirements and current best practices
Support managers and employees in the Annual Performance and Development Planning processes
- Work alongside Business Managers to develop and maintain a positive employee relations environment
Ensure company compliance with government legislation such as BBBEE, employee relations, work-force training etc.
The Successful Applicant
In order to be successful for this role, you would require at least 5 years experience at senior management level in an industrial environment. The sector can pose challenges uncommon to a "textbook" environment and this person would need the ability to apply critical thinking and innovative solutions to Human Resources. Exposure to Africa would also be a necessity.
The candidate should have a relevant qualification in Human Resources and should be accustomed to global reporting. The organisation has a complex matrix structure and this individual should be able to successfully manage the relationships with global stakeholders.

The salary is market related between R 1,400,000 to R 1,800,000 plus bonus.
