Job Description

The legal counsel will be required to provide the following services to the business:

  • Provide analysis and legal advice to overall business and client management teams of the Cluster LOCs. Be business partner to Cluster management, both on the Consumer Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sides of the business.
  • Responsible and accountable for all legal matters relating to the LOCs in the Cluster.
  • Provide analysis and legal advice on transactional, commercial, operational, R&D and manufacturing issues, integrating legal knowledge with sound business judgment.
  • Draft, develop, prepare, negotiate, advise and execute multi-country or regional contracts and other legal documents.
  • Review and provide legal advice on Cluster business, scientific, commercial, and sales/marketing documents/communications.
  • Conduct or coordinate research on Cluster legal issues.
  • Review and interpret regional trends of pending and new legislation or regulatory rules impacting the business to ensure strategic and proactive management of legal risks.
  • Anticipate and proactively support the prevention and management of Cluster legal risks. Contribute to the identification of legal risk and recommend actions to mitigate.
  • Develop and recommend policies and practices on issues presenting potential legal risk.
  • Review and interpret pending or new legislation or regulatory rules impacting the business in the Cluster to ensure compliance or strategy changes.
  • Provide Corporate Governance support and corporate secretarial support for the legal entities in the LOCs in the Cluster.
  • Guide and advise the business to achieve their goals ensuring adherence and compliance with laws and all company policies.
  • Keep track of relevant material laws and its applications and ensure the proper adherence in the Cluster.
  • Educate client businesses on sound legal practices and new developments.
  • Conduct training of new laws and refreshers on areas of legal risks and legal policies including Competition Law and Write Right.
  • Where necessary, meet with regulators and government bodies on issues touching upon the company's business within the Cluster.
  • Work with and manage activities of external legal counsel on legal matters of the Cluster.
  • Communication and consultation with other functions (e.g. Compliance, Audit and Assurance, Business Development, HR, Finance, Procurement, etc.) and other Legal areas (e.g. Global Patents, Legal Global Trade Marks, DRP, GMS, R&D, etc.) to ensure coordination and alignment, as well as consideration of all aspects required to provide an integrated and holistic legal advice.

The Successful Applicant

The Legal Counsel is required to possess the following minimum requirements:

  • 4-5 years of experience in a Pharmaceutical or FMCG industry
  • Strong exposure to corporate, commercial, pharmaceutical and or international laws and regulations
