Job Description

The PMC Engineer will be responsbile for:

  • Supporting the PMC Manager for pro-actively driving the performance of the Capex program delivery through the Business Unit to agreed outcomes, meeting HSSE and Retail business objectives;
  • Implement the construction program in the market;
  • Work with the PMC Manager on the continuous improvement in the construction delivery in terms of costs, quality and cycle time in alignment with the Global PMC teams;
  • Work alongside contracts in teams of roughly 20 people;
  • Develop and manage with the PMC Manager, the key stakeholder relationships with other Network functions, Sales & Ops, FMC Manager other external third parties and pro-actively communicate with them in order to deliver the Capex program through the PMC in an integrated way;
  • Lead and drive HSSE mindset within the PMC organization and through them to contractors;
  • Ensure compliance with the Organisations HSSE policies by PMC and through them, by contractors;

As well as:

  • Supporting the PMC Manager to drive and manage the strategic relationship with PMC at Market level;
  • Providing leadership to PMC team in the Market to set a clear direction and priorities on construction program;
  • Supporting the PMC Manager to provide a cohesive and integrated annual Construction program to PMC including high-level scope, timelines and costs;
  • Reviewing with PMC and approve the complete Capex plan and phasing of projects/program that are prepared by the PMC including procurement strategies;
  • Providing the Scope of Work of each individual project and program under his/her direct responsibility;
  • Attending to the monthly Performance Improvement meeting with PMC team to review the project/program delivery including spent, milestones and HSSE and agree action plans to improve project/program delivery performance;
  • Escalating unresolved and systemic issues to Organisation PMC Manager and Engineering Manager;

Lastly, provide a Market interface to key stakeholders in other Network functions, Sales & Ops, Marketing and PMC team to ensure the cross-business priorities are integrated into PMC priorities.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a South African citizen with a strong analytical background, budgetary & excel related experience;

He/She will have excellent communication skills and experience within Health & Safety Management;

Ideally the successful candidate will come from the Petroleum industry with construction & Project Management experience;

Experience is JBCC & FIDC contracts is highly desirable;

Professional Retail experience or Technical Engineering background would be beneficial for the position;

Strong personal values & principles aligned with group business practices;

Team player with strong leadership, proactive, self-starting & taking initiatives with strong sense of responsibility, ownership & urgency.
