About Our Client

Our client is a lead underwriter for Guardrisk Insurance, as well as providing numerous other Insurance Platforms. Their head offices are based in Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. They have been operating for 21 years and were the first organisation in their field, which focusses primarily on providing Insurance solutions to clients in the intermediate commercial sector.

They have grown by approximately 70% in the past two years with a current annual turnover exceeding R35mil annually. Their focus are on expanding their services to Gauteng as well as the Western Cape.

Job Description

You may be a young graduate with a few years' sales experience & you will:

  • be comfortable accurately selling relatively complex financial concepts and reducing these to "simple to understand" layman's terms,
  • have a good understanding of company law and of company shareholding structures,
  • have the ability to converse in English & Afrikaans and to really connect with people from all cultures,
  • have excellent verbal, written & presentation skills,
  • be high in energy, well presented, charming,
  • be comfortable in your own skin, resilient & looking to grow as a person,
  • have presence & confidence,
  • be excited by the opportunity to create & manage your own daily/weekly agenda, and
  • love to be part of a team effort representing a relatively small dynamic business with high moral, product & business practice standards.

You will form part of the new business team, but essentially, will be the "lead out" person and do all the prospecting, make the initial contacts, set up the appointments and do the initial presentations. The initial "soft close" will be the securing of a follow-up meeting involving other members of the team.

The sales process typically involves multiple meetings over a number of weeks or months. You will have the ability to facilitate these meetings and develop relationships to the point where you are able to successfully influence prospective clients over a long sales process.
