About Our Client
Our Client is a National Manufacturer of a range of Sanitary Ware Products, some being household names with SA for over 100 years.
The business has 3 manufacturing facilities in SA with this role being based in their largest site in Krugersdorp.
Proactively develops supply base within the agreed procurement strategy to minimize TCO and maximize delivery performance and quality.
Ensure that imported items are sourced and procured according to the specification and the business needs under TCO and quality perspective.
Cost management and yearly cost negotiations with suppliers
Ensures the best possible delivery date for shortages under TCO perspective
Ensures that quality control procedures are implemented and adhered to by the suppliers. Certificates of conformance to be attached to delivery notes for critical items used in the final paper making process.
Written quality procedures to be implemented for the receipt of raw materials and packaging materials.
International internal supplier assessments to be done on critical suppliers according to ISO requirements annually.
ISO 9001 questionnaire to be sent to identified international suppliers annually and records to be kept of feedback.
Constantly explore the international market place in an effort to develop alternative supply sources and to procure more effectively and economically within the procurement strategy.
Negotiate supplier terms and conditions incl. payment terms
Assist with the preparation of the material and budget.
Preparing a consumption price variance report - explaining the differences between actual and budget prices on a monthly basis.
Maintain consignment stock prices on the SAGE system.
Plan 6 months in advance, orders to be placed timeously and consignment stock managed.
Implement effective expediting procedure and monitor.
Issue invitations to tender on high value items and assist in the evaluation and adjudication of tenders.
Promote confidentiality and high ethical business code in the department.
Promote long term good relationships with suppliers by communicating with them on a daily basis, and by bringing the supplier and production people together to minimise misunderstandings.
As a unit module owner provide training to new employees and keep up to date with changes on the SAGE system.
The Successful Applicant
Minimum requirements to be considered for the Senior Buyer position
- 5 years of experience as a Buyer in an Engineering/Manufacturing/Industrial/Factory Environment
- Ability to read Technical Drawings and purchase components based on such.
- 2-3 Years working with SAGE ERP
- Computer system knowledge and proficiency : SAGE; Microsoft Excel & Word, MS Project, MS Power point
- SABS Quality System ISO 9000
- Purchasing Best Practices
- Cost analysis of manufactured components
