Job description
Reporting to the Director of West & Central Africa, the Resident Representative will be the most senior IFC official in Sierra Leone, with overall responsibility for achieving the organization's in-country development objectives. In addition to overseeing the appropriate allocation of staffing and resources, the Resident Representative's key accountabilities will be to:

- Develop specific investment and advisory opportunities with high development impact by building and maintaining strong relationships with clients (global and regional), multilateral partners, and financial institutions
- Establish strong relationships with government officials to facilitate IFC investment and advisory activities and represent IFC at key government and multilateral functions
- Collaborate with and coordinate all IFC missions in country
- Support sector teams in the management of portfolio companies until exit; propose portfolio restructurings, capital increases, equity sales etc
- Develop new business and provide innovative and flexible financial structures for complex transactions
- Support sector teams in the due diligence and processing of new transactions as necessary
- Set standards for thoroughness in quality control and make recommendations to strengthen transactions
- Lead and manage project teams; mentor and develop junior staff
- Contribute to sector and country strategies; support promotional and policy advisory activities
- Coordinate closely with social, environmental and technical assistance colleagues to add value to our clients' businesses
- Propose pragmatic solutions to specific industry challenges to achieve sustainable development impact
business goals.

Who we are looking for
The position calls for both operational expertise in financial transactions as well as remarkably strong communication skills enabling the candidate to successfully engage with senior government officials and private sector executives. As such, the ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree and at least 8 years experience in finance with a proven track record in sourcing, structuring, and closing investments, preferably with a focus on emerging markets. The candidate will be able to show sound business judgment and acumen with an ability to develop client relationships and originate new business in a complicated market. Excellent financial and credit skills will be mandatory, and the candidate will have a history of successfully executing complex financial transactions, with a premium for project finance. Concerning the communication skillset, diplomacy and dexterity will be highly prized as well as an ability to work successfully in multicultural teams. You are committed to the highest ethical standards and dedicated to sustainable development.

Sound knowledge of African markets is necessary.
