Job Description

The successful Executive Chef will be responsible for:



  • Enhance and innovate food offerings based on market trends and guest needs, using research to develop new products.


  • Lead culinary operations by managing staff, maintaining quality, and ensuring consistency in food preparation and service.


  • Support departmental goals and guest satisfaction through effective team leadership and training.


  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, expense control, and profit margin management.


  • Set performance targets, plan and schedule operations, and adapt strategies to market demands.


  • Collaborate with departments, attend required meetings, and ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and operational standards.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Executive Chef will have the following profile:

  • The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he can perform the essential functions of the job. Maintains food preparation handling and correct storage standards.
  • Recognises superior quality products, presentations and flavour.
  • Plans, estimates and manages daily food production needs and plating requirements for the restaurant.
  • Assists in developing daily and seasonal menu items for the restaurant.
  • Prepares and cooks foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
  • Checks the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Determines how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
  • Leads shift teams while personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications. Lead by example as a role model.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members. Demonstrate appropriate behaviours.
  • Experience in Hospitality and Catering.
  • Must be located in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania or willing to relocate.
