Key Relationships
❑ Internally: CEO, MDs/GMs/Clusters' Executives to ensure collaborative environment for mutual benefit.
❑ Externally: Suppliers, Relevant Authorities, Customers and Financial Institutions to enlist their continued support and trust with view to promote the company and increase revenue.

Key Results Area Principal Accountabilities KPIs

Legal Practices, Policies and Procedures

- Conduct proactive research and identify all applicable legal and compliance requirements, current best practice, determine the impact thereof on applicable internal policies and procedures, and ensure that internal organisational policies and procedures are aligned.
- Develop / Maintain the Group's legal framework of practices, policies and procedures.
- Formalise legal group wide due diligence process, standards and service providers.
- Drive compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements by proactively identifying changes in legislation and case law and stipulating the impact thereof on the organisation/BUs.
- Develop compliance initiatives such as compliance forms, directives, policies and procedures; trainings.

Legal Support

- Build and maintain effective relationships with the senior leadership across the group as a trusted advisor.
- Advise and provide legal opinions to create an enabling legislative environment for the group.
- Evaluate and review operational requirements to proactively identify potential legal and compliance related problems and risks.
- Conduct regular legal due diligence, report risk areas and develop mitigation actions.
- Advise on, and provide input towards Supply Chain, ICT, HR and other corporate service related practices, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and approve legal due diligence of mergers, acquisitions and any such projects.
- Oversee and drafting and approval of Contracts/agreements/transactions/any such legal documents.
- Direct vetting of contracts.
- Prepare cases in litigation, liaise and monitor with external Counsel/Attorney and relevant representative, follow up dates of appearances.
- Quality and Turnaround Time of Legal Due Diligence

Key Results Area Principal Accountabilities KPIs
- In cases where legal court cases have commenced, monitor progress with External Counsel and BU's representative and provide regular updates.
- Maintain a compliance and risk register to ensure visibility and transparency on all legal related risk.
Ensure regular contact and status report with the BU's and services.

The Successful Applicant

Law Degree and admitted as an Attorney/a Barrister-at-Law

A minimum of 5 years experience in a large corporate organisation in a legal advisory capacity.

Knowledge of all the relevant legislation

Knowledge of corporate governance requlations and legislation

Governance - Designs and implements frameworks and policies that directly and sustainably support the vision/values and organisational strategy.

Assists other functional areas to comply with governance procedures and practices.
