Job Description

The incumbent will report to the Director of Insights and will carry out the following:

  • Act as a strategic insights partner to Commercial teams throughout the Hub
  • Plan the Insights agenda & budget / setting priorities for the Hub
  • Run strategic analyses across a variety of data sources to identify business opportunities and challenges
  • Lead and develop the Insights teams based in Hub markets
  • Continuously engage with category heads in markets to stay current on business needs to plan and prioritise Insights resources accordingly
  • Run strategic analyses, consolidating all available information about consumers, the market/s and competition, to support adult smokers' conversion to IQOS and the combustible cigarettes portfolio strategy
  • Communicate results and get consensus from collaborators, applying a variety of methods of communication to encourage/provoke action as the objective voice of the consumer
  • Ensure insights integration into commercial/business plans and maintaining high levels of service standards to partners
  • Support the transition to the new way of working in the Region by:
  • Search for opportunities to collaborate across the Hubs
  • sharing standard methodologies and developing new methods organically, as well as adding to and maintaining the knowledge databases;
  • providing feedback on what is working and what could be improved
  • be part of global Pods working in task forces

The Successful Applicant

To Apply for the Head of Market Research SSA, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in statistics, mathematics, economics, behavioural economics, or sociology
  • +10 years experience working in consumer insights capacity at research agencies and client side (telecommunications, banking, or tech/electronics companies would be an advantage) in a team leader role
  • The successful incumbent will have a proven track record of optimally communicating and influencing management through business recommendations grounded in deep consumer understanding. Experience in a regional role is a plus
  • Experience with a diverse set of both qualitative and quantitative research tools (brand equity, retail audit, consumer tracking studies) and digital market research is required
  • Comfortable leading execution and integration of insights with data modelling, extraction, and visualisation (e.g., Power-BI or Tableau) strongly desirable
  • Proven experience in managing and developing both direct reports and agency partners is required
  • Comfortable working in and leading virtual teams
  • Strong communication & influence skills
  • Strong logic skills (i.e., take the best decisions with minimal guidance)
  • Learning agility
