Project Manager Pisciculture/ Fish Farming

Strategic and Operational Project Management:

• Design aquaculture projects tailored to local conditions.
• Conduct technical, financial, and environmental feasibility studies.
• Analyse river ecosystems to identify optimal farming sites.
• Develop comprehensive business plans incorporating costs, risks, and return on investment.
• Set up and oversee aquaculture infrastructure.
• Design and install ponds, floating cages, or recirculation systems (RAS).
• Select and manage necessary equipment (filtration systems, pumps, etc.).
• Oversee ordering and stock management.

Development and Optimization of Farming Systems:

• Create and adapt sustainable, intensive, or semi-intensive farming systems based on species and project requirements.
• Supervise all stages of the farming cycle:
• Selection and acclimatization of fingerlings.
• Feeding, growth monitoring, disease management, and water quality control.
• Harvesting, processing, and packaging.
• Continuously optimize performance by tracking key indicators (FCR, mortality rates, growth metrics).

Human Resources and Team Management:

• Train and manage local teams in aquaculture (technicians, workers, biologists, etc.).
• Implement standard operating procedures to ensure quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Compliance and Environmental Sustainability:

• Ensure compliance with local and international aquaculture regulations.
• Develop eco-friendly systems to minimize environmental impact (water recycling, waste management).
• Contribute to local biodiversity preservation by mitigating risks associated with open farming environments.

Commercialization and Market Development:

• Analyse market trends and develop sales strategies to meet local and international demand.
• Negotiate partnerships with distributors, exporters, and government organizations.
• Identify new opportunities for expansion or diversification of farmed species.

Research and Development:

• Collaborate with universities, research centres, and NGOs to innovate in aquaculture techniques.
• Introduce native or exotic species adapted to local conditions to diversify production.
