Job Description

The successful candidate for the Agronomist, Operations Manager must have the following:

  • Identify Packhouses in the Western Cape region
  • Purchase Apples, pears, Kiwi and negotiate prices
  • Identify, contract with and supervise local farmers to source high quality fruits
  • Ensure the shipping of packed fruits to other overseas markets.
  • Work with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
  • Manage and optimise logistics operations to ensure seamless supply chain processes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, distributors, and internal teams to maintain product quality and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor and analyse operational performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Supervise and support team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Prepare and present reports on operational metrics and performance.
  • Oversee inventory management and stock control processes.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Agronomist, Operations Manager should have:

  • A degree or qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the Agriculture industry, particularly in logistics or operations management.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret operational data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • To be based in Western Cape area
  • Come from the Agriculture or Farming industry
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in logistics and supply chain.
