Job Description
The Agronomist, Deputy Operations Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Negotiate prices of citrus fruits
- Identify Packhouses to store fruit
- Source citrus, oranges
- Contract and identify local farmers
- Ensure the shipping of packed fruits to overseas markets
- Manage procurement strategies for agricultural products to meet operational needs effectively.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality and reliability.
- Work closely with supply chain teams to optimise logistics and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and sustainability standards.
- Analyse market trends to guide procurement decisions and maintain cost efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Oversee the implementation of best practices in agricultural product sourcing.
- Contribute to strategic planning and operational improvements within the Agriculture sector.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Agronomist, Deputy Operations Manager should have:
- A relevant qualification in agriculture, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience in procurement and supply chain operations within the Agriculture industry.
- Strong understanding of agricultural products and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage supplier relationships.
- Proficiency in data analysis and decision-making tools.
- Must be based in Limpopo
