Tell us about your career at Michael Page so far?

My recruitment career began four years ago when I joined Michael Page for four years. Prior to this, I was working in HR. I currently head the Procurement and Supply Chain recruitment desk covering the South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa markets.

What prompted you to work with us?

My ambition was to work as an Analyst or a Consultant, so I studied B. Com in Economics. After my graduation, I received a contract position in the administrative area of a firm. My ability for management and people skills led my then-CEO to request that I develop a Human Resource plan for his company, and that's when I forayed into HR, with people management, hiring and training and development under my scope of work. After spending four and a half years in that role, I was attracted to a career in training and development since I enjoyed the teaching aspect of it. However, at that time, an opportunity to join Michael Page as a recruitment consultant came up and I decided to give it go. I have never looked backed again!

What is the most rewarding aspect about your job?

My day-to-day job is to matching talent to career opportunities that meet their potential – this itself makes my career in recruitment very rewarding. In my opinion, what keeps me going is my genuine passion for people and having the ability to change lives.

Do you have some advice to anybody thinking about working in recruitment with us?

I didn't know about the wonders of recruitment until I was introduced to it as a career when I joined Michael Page. If you’re passionate about engaging with people and changing someone’s life, then Michael Page is for you. Additionally, you should know what transferable skills (such as business development and client relationship management) you can bring into the recruitment business critical for you to thrive.
