Why did you want to join the recruitment industry?

After my studies in Human Resources Management, I was interested in the job of recruiter because this function requires a lot of personable qualities and allows one to directly impact the lives of those we work with. It clearly fell within my professional and personal aspirations.

Briefly share a synopsis of your career journey at PageGroup.

I joined PageGroup as an intern at the end of my academic training. For 6 months, I was introduced to sourcing and got an understanding of the recruitment process at PageGroup.

Following that, I signed my first contract and progressed to the position of Researcher and then Analyst in the Africa division. For a year now, I have been a consultant in charge of developing our brands mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa. It's been a little over 3 and a half years since I joined PageGroup and the experience is as stimulating as when I started!

What does your typical day at the office look like?

My day usually starts at the coffee machine! More seriously, I can't say if I'm having a typical day, but it is true that after coffee there are several things that are part of my routine.

  1. Check my emails and respond to urgent requirements
  2. Consult my calendar and see my appointments
  3. Review my 'To do list'. It generally consists of candidate calls, candidate interviews, short list sending, customer calls, commercial offer reminders, business development, invoice reminder, assignment follow-up, organization of client and candidate meetings, team meeting, and so on.

Depending on my 'To do list' I move forward on my agenda and my actions. However, my workday is almost never as I lay out for myself in the morning as there are several events that require program changes or certain actions take longer than expected.

What do you enjoy most about this job?

The first satisfaction is the impact I have on the lives of the people I meet. To place a candidate in a job which presents him with new and exciting challenges whilst boosting his career is for me the subject of ultimate joy.

Do you have any advice for anybody thinking about joining PageGroup?

You will need a lot of resilience and determination because our days and months are never the same, but it will always be enjoyable for those who are looking for challenges and incentives. In addition, you will join multicultural teams and a friendly working environment.
